I firmly believe that if Ariel was a boy, (and Eric was a girl) her actions wouldn’t be criticized even NEARLY as much.

No, then Man!Ariel would be criticized for spying on a girl, watching her sleep and stroking her face while singing at her unconscious body, and trading his tail for legs and a penis “to get some girl he only met a day ago and sleep with her.”

Which you’ve gotta admit is pretty…pretty creepy in that context.

In any context, mind you.

(as for the point the original op was trying to make…hmm…I have to think more on that. Because as romantic as the notion is of giving up your old life for a new one is… )
